Long gone are the days when submitting to 1000 directories had much affect on search, but still many link networks and spam sites leave surprisingly obvious footprints which search engines and the enlightened can often use to pinpoint spam. This presentation looks at common and less common known signals, including how networks seek to misrepresent their value. You will leave with a firmer understanding of the dangers of using link networks and what to test or look out for in your own link profile.
