Jenny Halasz has been in search since 2000, first working in affiliate marketing for Art.com, where she became familiar with “this bidding thing on GoTo” as part of her responsibilities. She entered agency life in 2002 as an account manager and later moved into SEO when her superiors started complaining she was giving too much information away for free. She briefly served as a Copywriting Manager and then went back to SEO. In 2006, she was hired as the SEO Manager at Acronym, an agency based in NYC, where she was the first fully remote employee.
She later became Director of Operations and then VP of Search, where she was discovered by Vanessa Fox (formerly of Google). She worked for Fox’s agency Nine by Blue for a short time and then decided to work as an independent consultant when Nine by Blue was sold to RKG. She opened JLH Marketing in 2011, a one woman consultancy that focuses on meeting customers where they are with SEO and Analytics to help them craft custom strategies for success. She’s worked with dozens of great brands, including SAP, NVIDIA, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Humana, Priceline, Motorola, Saint Laurent Paris, Wharton School of Business, CitiFinancial, HP, NBC Stores, and Lions Gate Films.
Jenny is a popular speaker, and has spoken at dozens of conferences nationally and internationally since 2007. She teaches, trains, and even helps companies locate search professionals in addition to providing superior SEO strategy and analytics services for her clients. Jenny was named by Rand Fishkin (formerly of Moz) as having “remarkable SEO expertise in the field” and someone to follow. You can follow her too – @jennyhalasz. Jenny is the SEO on Search Engine Journal’s AskanSEO column and formerly wrote a column “All Things SEO” for Search Engine Land. She is frequently asked to contribute to other pieces and can be found in various books, e-books, blogs, videos, podcasts and news articles.
Jenny is a graduate of North Carolina State University. She is happily married with two sons who keep her very busy as a PTA and soccer mom. Jenny loves video games (really any kind of game) and 80s movies and is a self-proclaimed nerd. She’s active in politics and spends a lot of her free time volunteering for various causes.
Jenny LOVES search – especially SEO – and is thrilled to be speaking at Ungagged!
